Embodying Presence in Life, Death, and Grief

Yoga Student Testimonials

Hear from Heather’s yoga students about their experiences, growth, and community connections through practice.

Heather’s classes are great! I’ve never once struggled to follow her instructions, and always leave feeling more relaxed and present. Looking up at the detailed wooden ceiling during savasana is also a very special treat, it’s gorgeous!

Practicing yoga with Heather has been a wonderful addition to my life! I feel stronger, healthier, calmer, and more prepared to handle stress after practicing yoga for the past few years. Heather is a thoughtful instructor, who is dedicated to inclusive practices that ensure people of all body types and all ability levels feel welcome and secure. I trust Heather completely and I know that she genuinely cares about me and all of the people with whom we practice. I am so thankful for the community that she has created!

It was a wonderful workshop, everything from the models and explanation about the hips to the poses taught. I realized through the workshop how important it is to practice these hip poses to build strength, balance and flexibility, especially as I age. Thank you so much for the amazing workshop!

What a wonderful workshop!! There was so much to learn - I’m really glad you split it into two parts - that gave ample time to digest the information as well as practice! I love the videos - being able to access your classes on my schedule has been wonderful! I also appreciate the varying lengths of the videos so I can do what I have time for when I’m pressed and I can do a couple videos or one longer one when I have more time!

Yoga class with Heather Smith is very enjoyable. Her voice is soft & low and she speaks slowly so you can understand and it's very relaxing. Sometimes the poses are challenging but she explains how the poses affect your muscles and how good they are for your body. I highly recommend her classes.

As I grow older my body and mind are taking more time to experience life. I'm a person who has always volunteered (what acquaintances and friends label as) 'a lot' and have enjoyed a body that is flexible as well as strong. Heather's classes have been a big help in taking new stages of my life that are sometimes so frustrating more gently and lovingly. Heather always gives me choices in every pose, reminds me that this is MY yoga and MY body, reinforces that each side of my body maybe a little different-each day maybe a little different-even from start to finish of a class maybe different, and helps me to celebrate that I have been able to join with others on this day to nourish myself and this world. Oh, I so love when the next day parts of my body are just a tiny bit sore and reminding me that I am alive, active and have taken care by not over doing...thank you Heather for your gentle reminders during class!

The yoga practices (as always) were a wonderful mix of body, mind, and breath - leaving me feeling calm and centered. Heather was careful to include all participants and give suggestions of alternative movements and poses which creates a feeling of acceptance and belonging.

The time spent in discussions was well-paced, fruitful and thought-provoking - I especially loved the Compassionate Listening experience! Because of the way Heather led discussions and gave us room to interact, I felt comfortable with all of the participants, but something very special happened in the breakout rooms! It was a great experience and one that I know I will think of often!
